Fixed the window layout breaking when a shell exits.
In 1.23.0, once a session’s shell crashed, was killed or exited with an error, the window’s content grew taller than the window and was centred in it:
The longer the exit message, the bigger the shift. A clean exit was not affected, because it closes the session.
The banner’s text was allowed to grow vertically to whatever height it needed at the width it was given. SwiftUI measures a window’s minimum size at almost no width, where that text wraps one letter per line, so the banner’s minimum height exceeded the window. Because the banner was a sibling of the terminal rather than an overlay on it, that minimum became the window content’s.
The banner is now an overlay on the terminal, which is sized by the terminal and cannot change the window’s layout, and its two lines of text are capped at two lines each, so its minimum height is bounded.
A signed Release build was launched and a session’s shell killed with SIGKILL. The sidebar, toolbar and terminal stayed in place, the row showed “Exited”, and the banner read “The shell was stopped by signal 9 (Killed: 9).” at the bottom of the terminal. Restart Shell started a new prompt under the old output.
401 tests pass across 30 suites.
