Shell Pilot 1.23.3

September 23, 2026 · Bug-fix release

Fixed the app icon sitting on a black background.

Symptom

In the Dock, Finder and Launchpad, the Shell Pilot icon appeared inside a dark rounded square instead of standing on its own like other apps.

Cause

Recent versions of macOS require app icons to match the standard rounded-square (squircle) shape. Any icon that does not match is placed on a grey plate, which renders dark in dark mode. Shell Pilot’s icon had its own corner radius, a drop shadow and a glow reaching past its edges, so macOS treated it as non-conforming.

Fix

• The artwork is re-cut to Apple’s macOS icon template: an 824×824 squircle with continuous corners, centred on a 1024×1024 canvas and fully opaque inside the shape.
• All icon sizes, from 16×16 to 1024×1024, are regenerated from that master.

After updating

If the Dock still shows the old plate, macOS is showing a cached icon. Run killall Dock in a terminal, or remove Shell Pilot from the Dock and add it again.
