Shell Pilot 1.25.0
September 27, 2026 · Feature and bug-fix release
The sidebar's RAM now includes local AI models. With opencode or ollama run using Ollama in a session, the Activity footer showed 817.7 MB while the model was using about 34 GB.
Cause
- The model runs in Ollama's own process, which macOS starts separately from your shell. The footer only counted processes started in the session.
- Memory was measured as resident size, which leaves out GPU memory and compressed memory. For the Ollama model that was 14.5 GB out of 33.7 GB.
Fix
- Memory is now measured the way Activity Monitor's Memory column measures it.
- When a program in the session connects to a server on this Mac, such as Ollama, that server and its child processes are counted under the session. The same session now reads 33.1 GB.
- The server stays counted until the program that connected to it exits, so the figure does not drop between requests.
- CPU does not spike when a long-running server is first counted.
New: Open in Shell Pilot from Finder
Right-click a folder in Finder and choose Services › Open in Shell Pilot to open a new session in that folder. It also works on aliases, and on a folder path selected as text in any app. If Shell Pilot is not running, it opens and starts the session. The existing window is brought forward rather than opening a second one.
Tests
493 tests pass across 42 suites.
